There are strong indications that the leadership of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) may have settled for Mimiko’s former commissioner for works, Gboye Adegbenro, as running mate to Agboola Ajayi, candidate of the ZLP in the forthcoming governorship election.

Adegbenro is one of Mimiko’s loyalists who has stayed with him since leaving office in 2017.

 According to our source within the ZLP who preferred not to be named stated that, “there are about 3 candidates being considered by the national leader, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, but Gboye stands out because of the sacrifice he made to drop out of the Senatorial race in 2019 and allowed Mimiko run for the seat.

Gboye is also loved by young people and politicians across party divides.
