The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Ondo State Council, has lauded Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for signing into law the Anti-Open Grazing bill and calls for its effective implementation for the good of all inhabitants of Ondo State.

This was contained in a communique issued at the monthly congress of the union, held on Thursday at the Pen House, behind Adegbemile Akure.

The Congress also charged government and its security agencies to engage vibrant youths and ICT Experts to come up with best ways to deploy technology to tackle insecurity in most parts of the country.

The communique reads: “That the Federal Government and NDDC should as a matter of urgency find solutions to Environmental Crisis especially Ocean Surge that has submerged some communities in Ilaje local government area of Ondo State in order to rescue the oil-rich area from going into extinction.

“That the Union equally urges the state government to come up with a WASTE to WEALTH initiative in managing the DUMP SITE located along Imafon/Igbatoro axis in Akure,  which has become hazardous to human health especially people living in the vicinity.

“That the Congress calls for a Special Bailout for Private Media organisations to enable them overcome the economic hardship that is negatively affecting the industry.

“That the Congress resolves that chapels in Ondo NUJ should always invite officially sister chapels to their social events to further enhance synergy, love and unity among members.

“That the Congress lauds a former state Head of Service and Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, Mr Dare Aragbaiye as well as the state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Sunday Adeleye for assisting Ondo NUJ to host a successful meeting of the Southwest NUJ leaders’ between Sept 1 & 3, 2021.

“That the Congress also expresses deep Gratitude to the State Corps Commander of Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye for sponsoring and attending the August edition of “NUJ Jazz Night” where three best dancers were rewarded with cash prize by Chief Adeleye”.
