AAUA to develop disease Reporting Apps

As part of the breakthroughs in its research and development efforts, Adekunle Ajasin University is set to develop a disease reporting application that would help in early detection of diseases.

The application, when fully developed, will also help to provide adequate and real time information system concerning diseases in human, crops and Animals. It will provide trends and pattern statistics to public health officials for decision making and allocation of resources, and provide platform to visualise and analyse diseases in Africa for proper planning.

The University, through its Centre for Research and Development, made this known, last week, during Research Exhibition and innovation display as part of the 8th convocation ceremony of the institution.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, commended the University’s Centre for Research and Development for this innovation, saying that research efforts of the University has kept the image of the University blistering and proved that the Institution is worth its salt as a 21st Century University properly called.

The VC said “I am glad that our lecturers are not just standing in the classroom alone, but have conducted various researches to contribute to both the University and the society, impacting students and producing quality research in just one year.

“Without research, all our efforts at teaching become nothing, because it is the outcome of your research that will produce excellent graduates, so, research is key to the development and achievement of the University system. Apart from teaching, research is one of the mandates of the University.

“A University that desires to be ranked must be ready to carry out cut-edge researches, and that is why the University appreciates the Centre for Research and development for organizing this”.

At the exhibition, other departments also displayed different research products. The department of Chemistry displayed an insecticide that has a shelf life of about four years, the CRDD will also produce a diabetics drugs which is currently under test by several medical institution around the world, the department of science Education displayed a manual grinding machine and other equipment produced, the Enactus team displayed two life-impacting projects of cocoa pods used to make fish feed, and the Agricultural department displayed several farm produce and livestock, all done during the year.
