A tragic incident has been reported in Supare-Akoko, located in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State, where a man identified simply as Ife allegedly killed his mother.
The victim, said to be a health officer, was discovered dead in her residence on Thursday afternoon following an alleged attack by her son.
According to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity, the suspect had earlier been seen carrying a stick, which raised suspicion among residents. When questioned, he reportedly claimed he intended to use it for cooking.
The source explained that the deceased had only returned home briefly to pick up an item when the incident occurred. The same source also noted that the suspect had previously exhibited violent behaviour towards his mother.
When our correspondent visited the area, residents were seen gathered in small groups, quietly discussing the shocking development.
A witness at the scene disclosed that operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, arrived promptly, arrested the suspect, and evacuated the remains of the deceased.
The witness further alleged that the suspect was known among residents for drug abuse.
