..as Witherspoon commissions modern school project in Owo, pledges more grassroots devt.
The Lawmaker representing Owo Constituency II in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Prophetess Morenike Atinuke Witherspoon, has commissioned a newly constructed block of classrooms in Sajiyan community, Owo, as part of efforts to improve access to quality education at the grassroots.
The project, which comprises a block of six modern classrooms, two toilet facilities, a well-equipped staff room, and a mini hall, was described as a significant milestone in the development of the community.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Witherspoon, who also serves as the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, expressed gratitude to stakeholders, party members, and residents who turned out in large numbers to witness the event.
She noted that the project was inspired by her experience during the electioneering campaign, when she observed that children in the area had to trek long distances to neighbouring communities in search of education.

According to her, “What I saw during my campaign moved me deeply. Seeing young children walk such long distances to access education strengthened my resolve to make a difference. Today, I am fulfilled that this vision has become a reality.”
The lawmaker reaffirmed her commitment to delivering more people-oriented projects, stressing that her representation would continue to focus on improving the welfare of constituents.
Representing the State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, at the event was the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, who commended the lawmaker for her developmental strides in the constituency.

Olabimtan described the project as a clear demonstration of responsive leadership and a step towards strengthening the educational sector in the state. He assured that the state government remains committed to supporting initiatives that enhance learning environments for pupils.
In his remarks, the Baale of Sajiyan community expressed profound appreciation to the lawmaker, noting that the project marked a historic achievement for the area.
He stated that the community had never witnessed such development, adding that many politicians in the past only visited during election periods without fulfilling their promises.
The traditional leader particularly praised Hon. Witherspoon for not only returning after the elections but also delivering on her campaign promises, describing her achievement as remarkable.

The commissioning of the school project was part of a broader tour across the ten wards in Owo Constituency II, where the lawmaker inaugurated several other projects aimed at improving the living standards of the people.
Hon. Witherspoon also used the occasion to appreciate party leaders, stakeholders, and constituents for their unwavering support, pledging to remain dedicated to the mandate given to her.
She further paid tribute to the late former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, acknowledging his role in shaping governance in the state and inspiring her commitment to service.
The event attracted political leaders, community heads, party faithful, and residents, who commended the lawmaker’s efforts and called for sustained development across the constituency.
