Tragedy struck Ajah, Lagos State, as gospel singer Matthew Ogundele and three others—Itunu Ogundele, Joseph Sanya, and blogger Matthew Awosanya, popularly known as JoesTv—were found dead in a music studio in the Abraham Adesanya area. The victims had been invited to perform on the second day of a three-day birthday praise event organized by gospel artiste Olanireti Akinbola. After completing their performance late into the evening on Tuesday, the group decided to stay overnight at the studio due to the distance from their homes.

The following morning, the studio owner, Akintayo Akinbola, discovered the door locked from the inside. Upon forcing entry, he found the four lifeless bodies.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the deaths and stated that detectives found no signs of violence on the corpses. The bodies were taken to Mainland Hospital, Yaba, where a medical officer confirmed the deaths before they were moved to the mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

Circulated photos of the victims reportedly showed blood stains in the nose, ears, and mouth, sparking public concern about the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Friends, colleagues, and the community have called for justice, demanding thorough investigations. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Yaba, for further inquiry. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of death to determine whether foul play was involved or if other factors contributed to the tragic loss of four lives in the studio.
