A distinguished naval officer, Rear Admiral Oladele-Bamidele Daji, was laid to rest at the age of 59 in Idoani, Ondo State, amid tributes from friends, colleagues, and family members who attested to his exemplary character and service to humanity.

The burial ceremony, marked by full military honours, attracted a wide array of dignitaries, including senior military officers, government officials, and members of his family.

In his sermon, the Bishop of the Diocese of Idoani, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Adegoke Oludare Agara, said that although family and friends prayed and fought hard to save his life, the late admiral had experienced “ultimate healing” through death in Christ.

He noted that Daji is now free from pain and fear, having gone to a place where there is no more sorrow, while those left behind must prepare for their own final day.

The bishop prayed that God would strengthen the deceased’s wife and urged her to remain strong for their children, encouraging herself in the Lord as David did.

He described the late officer as a man committed to God and humanity.

He also highlighted Daji’s simplicity and how he used his influence to support his community, Idoani. “We shall not be remembered for our titles but for our kindness and life of service,” he said.

Dignitaries at the ceremony included government officials, a former Chief of Defence Staff, vice admirals, retired admirals, and senior military officers, all of whom paid glowing tributes to the deceased.

His children described their father as loving, caring, and exceptional, noting that he excelled in multiple roles.

They highlighted his dedication to God, family, and community, portraying him as a man of deep faith and strong values.
Serving and retired admirals described Rear Admiral Daji’s passing as a significant loss to the Nigerian Navy and the nation.

The ceremony concluded with the interment of Rear Admiral Oladele-Bamidele Daji at his residence in Idoani, Ondo State, bringing closure to a life well lived and a legacy that will endure.
