The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man, Olamipekun Elegbeleye, over alleged involvement in rape and armed robbery, as part of ongoing efforts to curb sexual offences and improve public safety in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, disclosed that the suspect was apprehended following investigations into an incident that occurred on November 21, 2025.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the suspect allegedly lured a female victim onto his TVS motorcycle under the guise of taking her to Afunbiowo Housing Estate in the Oke Aro area.

He was said to have diverted to a nearby bush, where he reportedly assaulted the victim at gunpoint and dispossessed her of her valuables.

Police investigations further revealed that four other female victims were allegedly attacked and robbed by the suspect in a similar manner and at the same location.

Acting on credible intelligence and technical tracking, operatives of the Command traced and arrested the suspect at his hideout.

Items recovered from him include two SIM cards, two iPhones, a shirt, and ATM cards belonging to Opay and Moniepoint, all believed to be properties of his victims. Investigators also established that money was allegedly transferred from one of the victim’s bank accounts to another account without authorization.

The police said the suspect confessed to the crimes during interrogation.
The suspect has since been charged to court and remanded at the Ondo State Correctional Centre, Akure.

Reiterating the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, CP Lawal assured residents that perpetrators of violent and sexual crimes would continue to be tracked down and brought to justice.
