The 50th birthday celebration of Matron Bosede Olanusi was marked with gratitude to God Almighty and a remarkable act of philanthropy through the donation of medical equipment to the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), Ondo State.
Speaking during the ceremony, Matron Olanusi expressed profound appreciation to God for the gift of life and thanked the management of UNIMEDTH for providing an enabling environment that has supported her professional growth and development over the years. She also expressed deep gratitude to her family, friends, and especially the Rotary family, whom she acknowledged for believing in her vision and values.
She emphasized that modern governance requires a high level of inclusivity, noting that government alone cannot meet all societal needs. According to her, individuals and organizations must cultivate a strong sense of responsibility toward supporting their workplaces, adding that such commitment is closely linked to job satisfaction and sustainable development.
As part of the celebration, Matron Bosede Olanusi donated several medical items to the Male Surgical Ward and other units of UNIMEDTH. The donated items include:
1.One multi-parameter cardiac monitor
- One tablet sphygmomanometer
- One stadiometer
- Two vein finders
- One wheelchair
- One water bed
- One baby walker for the UNIMEDTH crèche
- Two refrigerators for the male and female surgical wards
- Two wall clocks
- One electrical extension box
In addition, she offset the hospital bills of indigent patients to the tune of One Million, Four Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty Naira (₦1,485,750).
The Chief Medical Director of UNIMEDTH, Dr. Michael Olumide Gbala, expressed delight at the initiative, describing it as a unique and inspiring gesture from an exceptional individual. He encouraged staff and stakeholders to emulate such acts of generosity, emphasizing that progress is achieved through partnerships and collective responsibility. He noted that lending a helping hand to others is essential for making meaningful impact within the community.
A short exhortation was delivered by Dr. Francis Akinkunmi, who spoke on the theme “Count your days towards the path of wisdom.” He admonished the celebrant to remain steadfast in her humanitarian efforts and encouraged others to embrace the wisdom of purposeful living, noting that Matron Olanusi’s celebration exemplifies the true essence of giving back to society.
Several nursing staff of UNIMEDTH also gave testimonies about the celebrant, describing her as a woman of unique character and compassion. They applauded her generosity and urged others to emulate her selfless attitude, noting that such actions contribute significantly to making the world a better place.
