The Ondo State Police Command has recorded another major success in its ongoing crackdown on medical quackery with the arrest of a suspect operating an illegal clinic in Ore on January 14, 2025.

The arrest was effected through an intelligence-driven operation carried out by the Command’s Surveillance Team.

The suspect, identified as Idris Nasiru, a 25-year-old male, was apprehended at the illegal facility. A search of the premises led to the recovery of various medical items, including injection needles, medical drips, bandages, and other assorted medical equipment.

According to the Public Relations Officer of  the Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, further investigation, supported by a duly signed search warrant, led to a search of the suspect’s residence where used injection bottles, needles, and syringes were also recovered.

Preliminary findings revealed that the suspect is not a registered medical practitioner, confirming that the clinic was being operated illegally. The suspect has made useful statements and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the operatives for their professionalism and swift response, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, psc(+), mnips, reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing as a vital tool in disrupting criminal activities. He assured residents that the Police will continue to intensify efforts to safeguard lives and property across the State.

The Ondo State Police Command calls on members of the public to continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information to aid the fight against crime and criminality.

The Command also advises residents to exercise caution when seeking medical services and to remain vigilant to avoid falling prey to medical quacks, assuring the public of its resolve to eradicate medical-related crimes in all their forms.
