The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with an attempted murder case in Akure, the state capital.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the suspects were apprehended following a distress report from a woman identified as Fasuru, a resident of the Oke-Ijebu area of Akure.
Acting on the report, operatives of the Ijapo Divisional Police Headquarters were said to swiftly mobilised to the scene, where they reportedly found the suspects assaulting the victim.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, identified as Sodiq and Emmanuel, allegedly attacked the victim repeatedly until she lost consciousness.
The police operatives promptly rescued the woman and rushed her to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
The suspects were subsequently arrested and taken into custody, while the case has been transferred to the Command Monitoring Unit for further investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Adebowale Lawal, warned residents against engaging in violent crimes, noting that such acts often have grave consequences.
He assured the public of the command’s readiness to respond promptly to complaints and its commitment to ensuring justice.
The police boss also urged residents of Ondo State to remain law-abiding and to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and the protection of lives and property across the state
