The Administrative Panel of Inquiry on crisis in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State has started its sitting deliberating on 58 memoranda.
Reports say that crisis erupted in Idogun community on the 3rd October 2025 as some irate youths allegedly beat up the town’s king, Oba Moses Bakare, his wife, and his son, called Victor.
The incident, which occurred during the annual New Yam festival, left the king injured while his wife was reportedly beaten and stripped half-naked by the angry youths.
Speaking at the sitting of the panel on Monday in Akure, the Chairman of the Panel, Mr Idowu Mafimisebi, urged all parties allegedly involved to cooperate with the panel.
Mafimisebi said the inquiry would last for six weeks out of which four weeks had been spent on procedural process.
He promised that the panel would guarantee fairness and equity for justice, stating that no party would be allowed to steal the show during the panel’s proceedings.
“ We have 58 memoranda before us and this panel is expected to give justice. We will be honest, tenacious and find out the exact cause of cause(s) of the crisis at Idogun.
“Our intention is that we will bring to book whoever is found wanting in all the Shenanigans that led to the crisis at Idogun and of course we will not care whose ox is gored.
“ Anybody caught capable will be dealt with accordingly and we will make our recommendations to the government.
Mafimisebi enjoined sons and daughters of the community to be assured that the panel’s recommendations after its proceedings would bring lasting peace to the community.
Speaking to newsmen, the counsel to the king, Mr Bode Akinyemi, said that the cause of the crisis was that a group of people in the community planned to dethrone the king, which he said had ruled for 19 years.
Akinyemi added that his counsel had confidence that the panel would do justice to all memoranda submitted.
The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Idowu Ajanaku, appreciated the government for setting up the panel to settle differences among aggrieved groups of interest in the community.
Ajanaku,who is from the community, asked the panel to be fair and for justice to prevail, urging sons and daughters of the community to see one another as a team for development of the community.
