The Ondo State Government has stepped up efforts to enhance infrastructure, education, and security across the state, especially as the festive season approaches.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku, made this known on Thursday while speaking on a live programme on Adaba FM.
Ajanaku said Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved key infrastructural projects to ensure smooth movement and improved living conditions during the yuletide.
He listed ongoing works on major roads, including Ijoka Road and Oke Aro Road, noting that contractors would soon return to the Ikun Akoko Road project. He added that the Afo–Idoani Road has also been strongly prioritised.
“Work is massively ongoing at Ijoka Road and continues at Oke Aro Road. Contractors will soon be back on Ikun Akoko Road, while the Afo–Idoani Road has been vehemently presented to ensure smooth infrastructural development in the state, especially at the localities. The governor has graciously approved these,” he said.
The commissioner also highlighted notable progress in the education and health sectors, especially in rural communities. He disclosed that school renovation projects are underway across the state, alongside upgrades in health centres and general hospitals.
“We are engaging in human capital development because employment is very important. Efforts are ongoing to employ more teachers, particularly in science and other critical subjects,” Ajanaku stated.
Speaking on security, he assured residents of a peaceful festive season, noting that the current administration has not recorded any security breach since inception due to proactive strategies adopted by the government.
“If there’s anything this government takes seriously, it is security. There has not been a single security breach in Ondo State, and we intend to keep it that way. Vehicles and security gadgets have been distributed to agencies across the state. Amotekun operatives have been deployed to the hinterlands and various nooks and crannies. The governor is working closely with security agencies to ensure the state remains safe during the yuletide,” he said.
Ajanaku emphasised that sustained security is crucial for investment and economic growth, stressing that safety remains the foundation for attracting investors and achieving development goals.
