The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Oyewole Adamolekun, for allegedly impregnating his 15-year-old biological daughter after years of sexual abuse.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the suspect, who resides at Taye Village, Lafa 2, Ajue Area in Odigbo Local Government Area, was arrested following a report lodged at the Enu-Owa Divisional Police Headquarters, Ondo, on October 8, 2025, by a concerned neighbour, Mr. Julius Olusola.
The complainant alleged that Adamolekun had been having unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter since she was just three years old. Acting promptly on the report, operatives from the division apprehended the suspect, while the teenage victim was taken to a medical facility for examination. Medical tests confirmed that she was 19 weeks and two days pregnant.
The statement added that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and is currently in custody. The case has been transferred to the Command’s Gender Desk for further investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, condemned the act in strong terms, describing it as “criminal, inhumane, and morally reprehensible.” He vowed that the Command would ensure swift and decisive prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.
“The Ondo State Police Command maintains a zero-tolerance stance on all forms of sexual abuse, especially against minors,” CP Lawal stated. “Justice will be served with utmost urgency, professionalism, and precision.”
The Commissioner further commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for his commitment to police reforms and the protection of vulnerable persons, saying the IGP’s emphasis on accountability has strengthened the capacity of commands across the country to respond effectively to gender-based violence.
CP Lawal urged residents of Ondo State to remain vigilant and report any case of abuse or suspicious activity to the nearest police station, assuring that the Command remains committed to safeguarding the rights, dignity, and safety of all citizens.
