The Ondo State Government has announced that the Onyearugbulem/Shagari section of the Ilesha–Akure–Owo expressway will be temporarily closed to traffic for five days to allow for construction work on the ongoing flyover project.
According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, FNSE, FNICE, the closure will run from Sunday, October 5, to Friday, October 10, 2025, to enable the casting and placement of pre-stressed beams on the bridge.
The government assured motorists and residents that adequate arrangements have been made for traffic diversion throughout the exercise.
While expressing regret over the inconvenience the closure might cause, the commissioner appealed for patience and cooperation from road users, emphasizing that the project is part of efforts to improve the state’s infrastructure.
