A 20-year-old man, Amir Yusuf on Wednesday, brought his step brother, Aliyu Yusuf before a Shari’a court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna State for allegedly stealing and selling his phone.
The prosecutor, Insp. Ahmad Isiyaku, said that the complainant reported on Aug. 28 that his Redmi A5 phone had been stolen, and that the phone case was also stolen a week later.
According to Isiyaku, the police tracked the phone and found it with one Bello Isah, who claimed he had bought the phone for N80,000 without knowing it was stolen.
The first accused pleaded guilty to the offence bordering on theft while the second said he received the phone without knowing it was stolen.
Judge Malam Yakubu Abdullahi granted bail to the two accused persons on the condition that they provide a reliable surety.
He also ordered Isah to present an evidence on Sept. 9 to prove he had no knowledge that the phone was stolen.
