The crisis rocking the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ondo State Chapter, took another dimension on Sunday following revelations that the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Omoyofunmi Segun Henry, had no knowledge of the purported election said to have taken place in Akure.

Findings showed that the Commissioner is currently in Asaba, Delta State for the ongoing National Youth Games and is not expected back in Akure until Tuesday.

Also, checks at the reported venue of the election, SITA, indicated that no official of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development was present, further casting doubt on the credibility of the exercise.

Attempts to get the Ministry’s Press Officer to react were unsuccessful, as calls to his line were not answered at the time of filing this report.

The development has heightened stakeholders’ concerns about the authenticity of the exercise, especially after the State Executive Council of NYCN, led by Chairman Pathfinder Matthew A. Ogunmolawa, had earlier issued a disclaimer disassociating the Council from the process.
