The Ondo State Police Command has begun investigations into the death of a 13-year-old boy, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his teenage girlfriend.
The girl, identified as Omolade Timahun, is said to be a student in one of the public secondary schools in Okitipupa, the headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government area of Ondo State.
The Hope Newspaper reliably gathered that the two teenagers, both residents of the Ayeka area of the community, were classmates in the same secondary school before the tragic incident occurred.
A source in the community said the two had been in a relationship for over two years and had accused each other of being unfaithful and having external love affairs.
The source added that the condition of the victim worsened suddenly after he had been discharged from the hospital, where he was earlier treated for injuries.
According to reports, the girl raised an alarm during an argument, left the scene angrily, and threatened to return and stab her boyfriend to death.
She was said to have returned a few minutes later with a pair of scissors and allegedly stabbed the boy in the neck.
The victim was rushed to a private health facility in the area, where doctors and nurses made concerted efforts to revive him, but he was later confirmed dead.
When contacted, the Area Commander of the Ondo State Security Network (Amotekun), Okitipupa Area Command, Mr. Asedayo Ogundana, said the matter was reported to his office but was later referred to the police for proper investigation.
Similarly, when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Adeyinka Alayande, confirmed receipt of the incident and explained that the case is under investigation.
When asked if any arrest had been made, the Police spokesperson said investigations are ongoing and promised to get back to our reporter once findings are concluded.
Another source who spoke with JATS Online News, however, said that the boy’s age is over 20 years old.
