In few months time, the tenure of the present executive of APC in Ondo state will come to an end.
There is no doubt that the current democratic experience in the country is growing and therefore there is the need to constantly build on the successes recorded by the past political builders.
Without doubt, Engr. Ade Adetimehin-led administration has been a fantastic State Chairman of APC; the truth is that, sitting on this coveted seat needs an individual who is well grounded in politics and well equipped to carry along people with different interests.
Before Engr. Adetimehin’s administration, it was Prince D I Kekemeke from the Southern Senatorial district of Ondo State that was the State Chairman of the party.
From the above fact, it was clear that both the southern and central senatorial districts of the state have occupied the Chairmanship seat of Ondo State APC.
For equity, fairness and justice, the next state chairman of the APC should come from the Northern Senatorial Zone of the state. The position of State Chairman of a party is usually not an ordinary position because of the responsibilities attached to the office.
Whosoever becomes the state party Chairman must be highly cerebral, versatile and well connected because of the huge responsibilities that are attached with the office.
In view of the huge political responsibilities rest on the shoulders of the state party Chairman to unite the party and consolidate on the successes recorded so far, the party must beam it searchlight on the most suitable candidate and well equipped personality for the tasks ahead.
It is on this note that like minds from the Northern Senatorial District come to a conclusion that a well groomed political Colossus, Rt Hon. Victor Adekanye Olabimtan is the the best candidate.
Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, has been involved in the politics of Ondo State since the coming of this present democratic dispensation in 1999 and he has been very consistent and constant.
As a grassroot politician, Rt. Hon. Olabimtan represented the good people of his constituency at the Ondo State House of Assembly and was at became the Speaker of the state House. He later became the Chairman of TESCOM in Ondo State. It was while he was the Chairman of TESCOM that the last set of teachers were recruited until the last one just few days ago under the administration of Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Rt Hon Olabimtan was also at the Federal Civil Service Commission, Abuja as a member and it is on record that he used his influence to ensure that a lot of Ondo State indegines were employed into the federal civil service. Many of them are progressing in different ministries and hopefully soon they will become Directors and even Permanent Secretaries.
He has also been appointed at the state level as Special Adviser and presently he is the Chairman of SUBEB. Rt Hon Olabimtan was the Director General Campaign Organisation of the late Governor Akeredolu and it is on record that he did excellently well by ensuring that APC defeated the Dr Mimiko PDP candidate of Hon Eyitayo Jegede in 2016 Governorship election. He was also the DG Campaign Organisation for the reelection of Late Akeredolu in 2020. He has remained a political stabiliser in APC. It also worthy of note that Rt Hon Olabimtan has been a very close supporter of the present Governor since he took over as the Governor of Ondo State on the 27th of December 2023.
To build on solid foundation laid by the past leaders, the best candidate is no other person than the Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan. He has all it takes to consolidate on the successes and achievements of the APC both in Ondo State and at the national level. I therefore want to enjoin our amiable Governor, Dr. Aiyedatiwa to give his support to the Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan whom the cap fits.
