..as Olubaka’s wife visits DG, advocates  Space Science collaboration

The Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has reiterated the agency’s dedication to fostering collaborations with traditional institutions to drive development across Nigeria.

Dr. Adepoju made this known during a courtesy visit by Olori Adejumoke Adeleye, wife of the Olubaka of Oka Akoko, Oba (Dr.) Yusuf Adebori Adeleye. Speaking during the visit, he highlighted the importance of integrating traditional heritage with modern space technology to enhance growth in various sectors.

Expressing profound gratitude for the visit, Dr. Adepoju commended Olori Adejumoke for her exceptional personality and contributions, describing her as a woman of great repute. He also praised the Olubaka for his wise choice in marriage, noting that the monarch’s successes as a first-class king in Ondo State reflect his supportive partnership with the Olori.

Dr. Adepoju acknowledged the contributions of notable sons of Oka Akoko, such as Senator Ajayi Boroffice and Dr. Felix Ale, to Nigeria’s space program. He stated that their accomplishments symbolize the strength and influence of Oka Akoko’s traditional institutions, led by the Olubaka of Okaland.

The NASRDA Director General also pledged the agency’s support for the proposed Federal University of Aeronautics at Oka Akoko, championed by Senator Boroffice. He emphasized that the establishment of the university would further enhance Nigeria’s capabilities in aeronautics and space science.

Dr. Adepoju described the visit as a bridge between traditional heritage and modern innovation, aligning with NASRDA’s vision for national development.

In her remarks, Olori Adejumoke Adeleye congratulated Dr. Adepoju on his achievements since assuming office. She noted the significant interest of Oka Akoko in NASRDA’s activities, emphasizing the agency’s vital role in advancing national development through space science and technology.

The Olori commended Dr. Adepoju for revitalizing the agency and inspiring the younger generation to embrace space innovation. She also expressed appreciation to NASRDA’s management and staff for their dedication, wishing them a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Dr. Felix Ale, NASRDA’s Director of Media and Corporate Communications, also praised the visit, describing the Olori as a remarkable woman and the driving force behind the Olubaka Palace.

He lauded the Olori’s recent efforts in organizing a Christmas Carol and Children’s Party, which he described as a historic event for the Oka Akoko community.

Ale, an indigene of Oka Akoko, used the medium to congratulate the Olubaka on the recent celebration of his 50th anniversary at the Nigerian Bar, recognizing his distinguished legal career before ascending the throne.
