A woman farmer from Borno State, Mrs. Veronica Milaya, has emerged as the overall winner of the Every Home A Garden competition organized by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

The Every Home A Garden competition was launched by the First Lady under the Renewed Hope Initiative to encourage women to practice home gardening. Senator Tinubu herself participated in the challenge by cultivating open lands at the Aso Villa.

Unveiling the winner during an event held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Remi Tinubu urged Nigerians to embrace home gardening to ensure there is enough food for families and to foster a culture of sharing with neighbors.

Mrs. Veronica went home with a whopping sum of N20 million from the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), an additional N5 million from the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), and an extra N1 million from the First Lady of Borno State.

Other finalists also received over N2 million each, while all participants who submitted entries from the 36 states were to be given N1 million each.

The Every Home A Garden competition was announced a few months ago by the Founder of the Renewed Hope Initiative and First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu. She instructed Nigerian women to cultivate portions of land in their backyards and record videos of every step of the process. The videos were to be submitted to the office of the First Lady of each state, who acts as the State Coordinator for the RHI program.
