The Chairman of the Ondo State Agency for the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities, Princess Folashade Arise Comfort, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and championing the rights of persons with disabilities in the state.

Speaking on Tuesday to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Princess Arise highlighted the theme of this year’s celebration: “Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future.” She emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions and potential of persons with disabilities in building a more equitable society.

“This day is an opportunity to raise awareness, promote understanding, and advocate for the rights and well-being of people with disabilities,” she said in her message.

Reflecting on the progress made in advancing the rights of persons with disabilities, Princess Arise also underscored the need for continued efforts to create a society that is inclusive, accessible, and respectful of the dignity of all individuals.

“We must strive to create a society that is inclusive, accessible, and respectful of the rights and dignity of all individuals, regardless of their abilities. Let us use this day to reflect on the work that still needs to be done and commit to breaking down barriers,” she added.

She encouraged persons with disabilities in Ondo State to remain vocal about their experiences and advocate for meaningful changes in their communities. “Your perspectives and insights are invaluable. It is essential that your voices are heard in decision-making processes that affect your lives,” she stated.

Princess Arise also called for the creation of supportive environments that promote accessibility in infrastructure, transportation, education, and employment. She reiterated the agency’s commitment to ensuring these areas are inclusive for persons with disabilities.
