The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a mix of dust haze, sunshine, and isolated thunderstorms across the country from Saturday to Monday.

In its weather outlook released on Friday, NiMet predicted slight dust haze over the northern region on Saturday. A similar weather pattern is anticipated in the North-Central region throughout the day.

For the southern region, the agency expects sunny skies with patches of clouds, alongside the possibility of morning mists in parts of Lagos and Ogun states. In the afternoon and evening, isolated thunderstorms with light rains are likely in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states.

The forecast for Sunday indicates the continuation of slight dust haze in the northern and North-Central regions. The southern region may experience thunderstorms and light rains in parts of Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom during the afternoon and evening.

By Monday, the northern region is expected to witness moderate dust haze, with horizontal visibility ranging between 1 to 3 kilometres, and localized visibility potentially dropping to 1,000 metres or less. The North-Central region is also forecasted to experience slight dust haze throughout the day. In the southern region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are anticipated.

NiMet has cautioned individuals with respiratory conditions, including asthma, to take necessary precautions due to the current weather conditions. It also urged the public to follow safety advisories issued by relevant authorities.

The agency advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective flight planning and safety.
