With the Ondo State governorship election is fast approaching on November 16, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on all political parties to engage in respectful and issue-based campaigning. The APC’s appeal for civility aligns with Governor Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s dedication to a peaceful and constructive electoral process that benefits all Ondo residents.

In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, the ruling party expressed concerns over the spread of misinformation and lack of decorum shown by some political groups, particularly targeting the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for conduct they described as “desperate.” According to the APC, such actions not only compromise peace but also jeopardize the state’s developmental progress.

“We must prioritize integrity, discipline, and respect for the people of Ondo State over political ambition,” reads the statement, urging all parties to put the state’s welfare above partisanship.

The APC emphasized Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to unity, inclusiveness, and the welfare of all Ondo citizens, noting that the governor’s approach to governance, is marked by his respect for diverse stakeholders and his prioritization of the state’s well-being over personal or political gain.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, the APC’s candidate, has been campaigning across wards and local governments in a dignified manner, setting an example for what the party considers responsible electioneering. The statement expressed hope that Ondo voters will evaluate candidates based on character, trustworthiness, and commitment to sustainable development.

The APC reiterated that an Aiyedatiwa-led administration would focus on improving the welfare and security of Ondo residents, enhancing local economic growth, and advancing essential infrastructure projects. “The people of Ondo State can be assured that the APC under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership will work diligently to honor and justify their trust,” said Alex Kalejaye, Publicity Secretary, Ondo APC.
