The Edo State House of Assembly has impeached Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu following an investigation by a seven-man panel led by Justice S.A. Omonua.

The panel found the allegation of perjury against the deputy governor not proven beyond reasonable doubt, but concluded that he disclosed government official documents.

During the plenary session, 18 out of 20 attending members voted in favor of the panel’s reports, while one member dissented.

Speaker Blessing Agbrbaku directed the impeachment decision to be sent to Governor Godwin Obaseki for assent.
