Gov Akeredolu reaffirms readiness to pay outstanding salaries

..as Ondo State Celebrates Public Service Week

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON, has re-emphasised that his administration would not relent in prioritizing the workers’ welfare in the State declaring that “all outstanding salaries will be cleared soonest”.

Akeredolu who was represented by his Deputy, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa made this promise at the 2022 Public Service Week Celebration held at International Culture and Events Center ( The Dome ), Alagbaka Akure on Thursday.

He said his administration set-out not to owe workers despite meeting arrears of salaries spanning seven months, of which his government have been able to offset six months.

“Iam glad to listen to your good testimonies on payment of salaries promptly as well as up-to-date promotion with financial benefits, regular elevation to Accounting Officers status, payment of inherited salaries arrears, training and retraining and provision of working tools and enabling environment for the service to thrive, among others” .

“Our Administration will continue to do more” .

“I also want to assure you that, the fraction of outstanding salaries will be cleared soonest” , he assured.

Governor Akeredolu said his government would continue to pursue a policy of enhancement for all and sundry.

“With a feeling of financial security, both for now and in the future, the Public Servants are motivated to give their best…we would, among other things sustain our efforts in this direction” , he declared.

Meanwhile, the Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele FCIPM charged the civil servants in the State on genuinety and creativity, which was the Hallmark of the 2022 Public Service Week.

“The Public Service Innovation Challenge in collaboration with PPIMU is no doubt one of the steps in the direction of making the Public Service live up to expectation” declared Ogundele.

According to the Head of Service, the winners of this year Public Service Innovation Challenge are :

  • Dr Adeola Richard Alonge came first with a cash prize of #300,000.00
  • Mr Olaseni Olubunmi Foluso was first runner-up with a cash prize of #200,000.00
  • Mrs Oladipo Jocelyn Omobola, was second runner-up with cash prize of #150,000.00.
