Tragedy struck Wednesday morning at the ancient city of Ikare Akoko when electricity pole collapsed on a passerby and one of the workers of working on the pole.

The Passerby who was a man reportedly died instatly, while the BEDC official sustained injuries and was rushed to the state specialist hospital Ikare.

Eye witnesses said the pole which collapsed was already weak, while the officials were removing them due to ongoing dualisation of Ikare township road by the state government.

The Police Area Commander for Ikare, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Razak Rauf confirmed the incident and said Police had taken appropriate step on the case. APPROPRIATE STEP ON THE CASE.
