The leaders of APC in Ilaje LG has risen from a meeting with a resolution to work together for the betterment of the party in the Local Government Area, to unite against external forces or influences likely to cause the party disunity ahead the gubernatorial election in Ondo State.

The meeting was conducted virtually, but in observance of the social distancing order, was presided over by the state Chairman of APC in Ondo State, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, with members of the state Working Committe and the leaders of APC in Ilaje LG who were in attendance online.

The Leaders of the Ilaje LG commended Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his developmental strides and particularly for the appointment of three indigenes of Ilaje to the state Executive position as ranking cabinet members. They appraise this feast as second to none, as Ilaje people have never have it so good in any government like they have it in Akeredolu’s government.

Stressing the need to unite the party ahead of the coming governorship election, Engr. Adetimehin reiterated the essence of a political party as an organized group of people who have the same ideology, or who, otherwise, have the same political views that field candidates for elections. They would work hard to attempt to get them elected thereof to implement the party’s agenda.

In implementing the party’s agenda, therefore, the Chairman said all members should see the party’s interest as much more greater than any of their personal interest. He then called for unity in the party in Ilaje LG and immediately called for the disbandment of all the various groups in the LG.

He urged them to close ranks into one indivisible caucus under the leadership of the LG party chairman and its Exco.

The body agreed to call for regular meetings of the LG Exco, leaders and members. They appealed to political appointees and elected members in the LG to be responsible for the larger chunk at funding the party in the local government.

Also they called for the involvement of the non elected/appointee party members in the APC state meetings. They should be appointed to ad-hoc Committees set up by the party rather than the unfair manner used presently in choosing political appointees and elected members.

The leaders forum in the LG will be reconstituted so as to be more solid with the inclusion of the LG party chairman and the secretary as members of the forum. Also, they urged the party chairman in Ilaje LGA to reconstitute the reconciliatory Committee and take it’s decision to the Elders Forum for the approval of the list while the Committe commences work in earnest.

The Commissioner for Environment in Ondo State. Hon. Funsho Esan thanked the state chairman Engr. Ade Adetimehin for his leadership role and the very good way he has been piloting the affairs of the party. He promised to see to the implication of all the resolutions reached in the meeting and revert to him accordingly.
