The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has called on individuals and industries to always take enough precautionary measures while handling any item or substance capable of unleashing devastating consequences on the public.

This was contained in a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Alex Kalejaye on the unfortunate incident that destroyed many buildings in Eleyowo community along Owo expressway yesterday, which was caused by an accidental discharge of an explosive device being conveyed to a quarry company in Edo state.

According to the statement, the party was deeply saddened by the grim effect of the blast, while sympathizing with the victims, the state government and the people of the state.

The party, however, commended the quick response of the government and the security agencies to allay the fears of the people, and sought alternative route to the damaged portion of the ever-busy road.

“We call on companies and individuals to be more circumspect in taking precautions, when moving items that are capable of unleashing devastating consequences on people, when handled carelessly.

“While wishing those injured speedy recovery, we emphasize the need for Federal authorities to expedite action on the rebuild of the Akure/Owo, as well as lend support to those whose property were destroyed”, the statement reads.
