An Ifetedo Magistrates’ Court in Osun State on Friday, ordered that a 29-year-old man, Adeyele Sesan, be remanded in a Nigerian Correctional Centre, for allegedly defiling three-year-old girl, pending bail.
The police charged Sesan with four counts of unlawful carnal knowledge, assault, defilement and threat to life.
Magistrate Joseph Owolabi, who refused the oral bail application filed by the defendant, ordered the defence counsel to file formal application for bail.
Owolabi also ordered the prosecution counsel to duplicate the case file to the office of the director of public prosecution for legal advice.
He adjourned the matter til March 25, 2020 for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp. Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 18, 2020, around 11 a.m. in Ifetedo, Osun state.
Osanyintuyi alleged that the defendant defiled the three-year-old girl, and also attempted to kill her by covered up her mouth with his hand, saying the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 3(1), (2), of the Child’s Right, Laws of Osun, 2007 and 320 (1), 355 and 360 of the criminal Code Laws of Osun state, 2002.
