As part of its package for the National Home Grown School Feeding – an arm of the National Social Intervention Programme (NSIP), the Federal Government has begun the distribution of plates and spoons to pupils in the early classes of public primary schools across the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State.

Addressing newsmen on Wednesday, the State Coordinator and Focal of the NSIP, Mrs Olubunmi Ademosu stated that the distribution of the tablewares which is to be done nationwide began in the State on Monday.

Mrs Olubunmi Ademosu also said the distribution of the tablewares to the pupils became very necessary saying, “it has come to our notice that the vendors are confronted with various hitches arising from some pupils who are reported to be sharing plates”.

According to her, “some of those pupils are also said to be fighting over who uses the plates first and we are not comfortable with this situation”.

The Focal Person, in consultation with the Project Manager of the School Feeding Programme, Mr Olupona Julius Sesan, had devised the modality for the distribution of the tablewares as they were handed over to the Area Education Officers of the various Local Government Areas who later disbursed them to the vendors for onward distribution to the end users, the pupils.

Meanwhile, Mrs Ademosu also noted that a Monitoring and Evaluation Committee has been constituted to ensure that the tablewares get to the end users as planned without any form of manipulation.

According to her, each member of the Committee is to monitor the distribution in the Local Government Area to which he is attached.
