The Nigerian Army has vowed that it will continue to boost the morale of its officers and soldiers to provide security for the citizenry.

The Commanding Officer of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, Brigadier-General Zakari Abubakar stated this during the decoration of some newly promoted officers of the command including Major Victor Olukoya held at Owena Cantonment Officer’s mess.

Major Olukoya who is the Brigade’s spokesman in his capacity as the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure, was promoted from Captain to Major.

Decorating them at a brief ceremony, Brig-Gen Abubakar said the promotion of the officers was part of the Army’s efforts to encourage its men to do more in defending territorial integrity of the nation and tackle internal security challenges in collaboration with other security agencies.

The Commanding officer charged the newly promoted officers to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation.

In an interview, Major Olukoya who is the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, expressed delight over the promotion, noting that the promotion was the best thing that could happen to officers in the military.

Major Olukoya said, “this is the best that can happen to any officer, I’m very happy today. I want to thank the Nigerian Army, my bosses for this decoration of my new rank. I promise to do more to project the good image of the Army.”
