
To complement the effort of the state government to improve primary health care delivery, and enhanced birth registration, the wife of Ondo State governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu will today hold a stakeholders meeting on birth registration.
This is aimed at charting a new course for birth registration programme in Ondo State and Nigeria at large.
According to the Special Assistant (Media) to Her Excellency, Miss Tobiloba Fademi, the theme of the programme is “Stakeholders Meeting: for the visibility of every child” and is expected to hold at the Centre for Events and Culture (The Dome), Igbatoro road, Akure at 10a.m.
Dignitaries expected at the event include the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, wife of Osun State Governor, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, and wife of Edo State Governor, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki.
Other important stakeholders expected are the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Pathfinder International, National Population Commission, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), National Primary Health Care Development Agency and other internationally recognised individuals and institutions.
This stakeholders meeting follows the successful implementation of the pilot phase of the programme (Olori Connection – Accelerated Birth Registration Programme) designed to improve birth registration in Ondo state by the Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu Foundation (BAAF) in collaboration with National Population Commission and Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Board.
