A middle-aged Okada rider identified as Kayode, was today crushed to death by NNPC tanker at Iyeoma Alagbaka Akure.

According to eyewitnesses at the scene of the unfortunate incident, who are majorly Okada riders, the tanker was stopped by Policemen at Iyeoma junction while coming from Oba-Adesida road, but didn’t stop and ran to the Okada rider who was coming from Elshadai axis.

Luck however ran out of him as the tanker didn’t stop, claiming to suffer break failure and dragged him with the motorcycle from the stopping point to the front of Iyeoma building before it stopped.

The tanker driver who introduced himself as Tunde, told this reporter that he was coming from Ore with a full-load of petroleum but suffered Break-failure at this point.

Information from eyewitnesses who were friends and families of the deceased, said he just got married last year, has a pregnant wife, and hails from Ijutaogbolu area of Akure.

Some said his blood brother was with him on the okada but was lucky to jump off the bike, while Kayode was trapped in-between the two front tires of the tanker with parts of his body chattered into pieces.

It was a terrific incident so far in Akure as sympathisers were heard describing it as ” shameful death, death of Ogun( iron) etc.

Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps rushed to the scene with ambulance trying to remove his remains from the tanker, as angry Okada riders descended on the driver and his partner but Policemen were able to rescue them before they took law into their own hands.
