The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will today Tuesday 6th October, 2018 display the Preliminary Register of Voters in all the polling units across Ondo State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Ondo state, Dr. Rufus Akeju made this known during a Press conference in Akure on Monday.
According to him, this process is in line with the provision of section 19 of the Electoral Act 2012(as amended) which is to afford the electorates opportunity to inspect and raise Claims and Objections to the register.
He charged voters to visit their polling units and check if there is any misrepresentation of their identity.
The REC noted that Revision Officers (REVO) will be available at the Registration Area Collation Centres to listen to the complains of people in respect to the register.
He also enjoined voters to call the attention of INEC to any inclusion of dead person’s name on the register.
” The exercise will last for seven days. But the hearing of Claims and Objections will be on the last two days of the exercise. The Revision Officers will explain procedures of the hearing to the Claimant and the Objector”. He said.
On those who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), Akeju disclosed that the cards are now available at the Registration Area Collation Centres for collection.
He however urged members of the public to maintain peace and orderliness during the period of the exercise, noting that security agents will be on ground to monitor the process.
