As parts of the activities to mark its 10th years anniversary of humanitarian services, the Restoration of the Dignity of Womanhood, ROTDOW, has honoured notable personalities for their contribution to the welfare of women and children in Ondo state, including the wife of Ondo state governor, Arabirin Betty-Anyanwu Akeredolu.

The event which was held at the hall of the State library board also featured presentation of textbooks, notebooks and school uniforms to some selected students and pupils free.

The Chief Executive Officer of the non-governmental organisation, Mrs Olabisi Omolona said ROTDOW deems it fit to honour Akeredolu and others whose services to the society is in tandem with the vision of the organisation.

According to her, ROTDOW had for the past 10years attending to issues relating to women, children, the physically challenged, the orphans, and has been promoting safe healthy behavioural practices.

“ROTDOW emerged with a strong passion to increase the relevance of women and children in the society irrespective of the background, health status and gender. This year anniversary is a unique one as we appreciate the partners, individuals that supported us for the past 10 years. Also, we recognize women that contributed to the growth and development of children in our society”. She said.

The ROTDOW CEO however highlighted the activities of the organisation since inception to include free book fair, distribution of vitamin A supplement to pregnant and nursing mothers, HIV/AIDS , Malaria and immunisation campaigns .

Others include Jumble sales, Christmas party with the less privilege children, and community mobilisation exercises on cross-cutting issues.

Responding to the award, Arabirin Akeredolu appreciated the award, saying it would spur her to do more for the women in the state.
Represented by the Chief Operating Officer of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, BRECAN, Ondo state, Mrs Catherine Okafor, Akeredolu commended the vision of the organisation and prayed that God strengthen the founder to deliver more humanitarian services.
Some of the awardees were the wife of the former Chief Jugde of Ondo state, Mrs Ajike Kumuyi , Chairnan, Nigeria Library Association, Mr Bode Arawande, Mrs Funke Esan and others.
Speaking, Arawande described ROTDOW as one of the few NGOs that is really out to serve humanity unlike others that are self-centered.

Also speaking, Mrs Kumuyi who said she detest NGO because she believes the founders are using it to enrich their purse , however noted that ROTDOW’s humanitarian services changed her perception.
