The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC party in Ondo State has issued a 24hrs ultimatum to the National Working Committee (NWC) and the chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomole to reverse the decision of imposing aspirants and the unlawful disqualification of three senatorial aspirants in the state.

Senator Tayo Alasoadura who read out the grievances and the decisions of the party during a Press conference at the NUJ press centre Akure described the decision of the national leaders of the party to unlawfully screened out some national assembly aspirants after paying millions to obtain form as an act that is tantamount to a scam and detrimental to the image of the party.

According to them, the level of impunity displayed by the national leadership of the party through their involvement in the primary election processes across the country is a shameful act and portrayed the party as one whose leaders has no regard for due process.

They however expressed their readiness to challenge the action of the national leaders of the party legitimately if they refuse to do the right thing in accordance with the constitutions of Federal Republic of Nigeria and the party guiding the conduct of primary elections.

In a release jointly signed by the three senatorial aspirants from the state under the platform of APC, Senator Alasoadura, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, and Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa, they rejected the emergence of any candidate unless through lawful means.

They condemned the dictatorial power exerted by the National chairman and the NWC by unconstitutionally disqualified some aspirants without genuine reasons and thereby imposed candidates against the choice of the people in the state under the party platform.

” while we wait to be availed of the grounds for this over reaching and clearly provocative act, we submit, with due regard, that it is gross and ultra vires of the constitutional responsibilities of NWC. This latest assault on democracy betrays a rancorous mindset predisposed to crude and unfair partisanship which should be resisted by all legitimate means.

“The NWC must adduce reasons for this dictatorial act capable of breaking the fragile peace existing in the party. This proclivity towards imposition of candidates by whimsies and capricious predilections, while pretending to cling to some higher values of rectitude, will be challenged with vigorous intensity.

“And in making this assertion, we made bold to proclaim that we leave all options open until the manifest error of judgement is corrected.

“we use this medium to put the National Executive Committee, NEC, and the leaders of the party ON NOTICE, that the candidates of the party in Ondo State, purportedly screened out without due regard to the extant laws, intend to uphold the tradition for which our dear state is reputed.

The Press conference which was led by the State chairman of the party, Mr Ade Adetimehin also had in attendance other state working committee members of the party and some state executives including commissioner for Information and strategy Mr Yemi Olowolabi, his counterpart for Commerce, industry and cooperative, Otunba Timehin Adelegbe and loyalists of the party.
