The parents of late Miss Chidebere Confidence Nwanma who was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Akure the Ondo State capital last week have insisted that the killer of their daughter must marry her corpse in their home town in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State before burying her.

The late lady’s parents, Mr and Mrs Nwanma who spoke with The Hope at their residence at Oke Aro during an interview said “in our place, it is mandatory as our tradition that the man must marry the corpse of our daughter in cold blood.

” He must perform the normal traditional rite by taking the corpse to our village in Oru East in Imo state where the marriage would take place.

“It is mandatory that he pays everything times two the normal way because he brought our daughter dead for marriage. He would perform all the traditional rites before our family would let him go.

The parents of the late Miss Chidebere explained that, “this is because without this traditional rites, every young person from the family of the boy would never get to the age of our daughter, but must die a sudden death just like our daughter.

” This is not our making, it is the tradition of our ancestors even before we were born. Our people all over the world are waiting for the court Judgment. Any way it goes, the boy must perform that marital rites to our daughter’s corpse before anything.

It would be recalled girl last week 19 years old Chinyere Ebere was allegedly stabbed to death by a middle age man presumed to be her boyfriend.

The sad incident according to The Hope investigation happened at No 3 Obasuyi Street, Ijoka in Akure.

Police source disclosed that the deceased and the man presumed to be her boyfriend was in the house when argument began among them as a result of which the man took a knife and allegedly stabbed the girl on her chest and other parts of her body.

She was said to have fell and bled profusely to death.

It was learnt that some concerned neighbours, who got wind of the incident alerted the police, who quickly arrived at the scene of the crime.

The girl was said to have died before the arrival of the policemen from the Oke Aro Division.

Speaking with The Hope, the mother to the deceased Mrs Lovely Nwama said she was in her shop when a neighbor called her that her daughter who just finished her secondary school was allegedly stabbed by a young man.

“My daughter just came back from where she went to write her WAEC yesterday. I observed some changes in her which led me to beat her up before the unfortunate incident occurred.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph explained that the suspect was asking the girl to date him which she refused, and was said to have publicly embarrassed the suspect.

This according to PPRO infuriated the suspect and allegedly took a knife and stabbed the girl to death.

The suspect, who is cooling his heels at B Division Police custody according to the police will be charged to court for murder soon after the police investigation.
