Residents and youths of Idoani community in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State on Friday staged a peaceful protest at the Idoani Divisional Police Headquarters, accusing the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mr. Asogbon, of alleged high-handedness and extortion.

The protesters, who gathered at the entrance of the police division in the early hours of the day, carried placards and chanted solidarity songs while demanding what they described as fair treatment and accountability from the police authority in the area.

According to some of the youths, the protest was organized to draw the attention of relevant authorities to alleged acts of intimidation, harassment, and unlawful collection of money from residents by the DPO.

They called on the Ondo State Police Command to urgently investigate the allegations and ensure that justice is served to restore confidence between the police and the community.

A source from the area alleged the DPO of charging N100,000 to bail a motorcycle.

As of the time of filing this report, the protest was peaceful, with no record of violence or damage to property.
