The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ondo State chapter, has set up planning and organising committee to organise a landmark event to celebrate distinguished sports personalities who have brought glory to the state over its 50 years of existence.


The initiative, described as a tribute to excellence, resilience and dedication, will be organised in collaboration with various sporting associations and federations within and outside the state.


The event is designed to honour past heroes, recognise present achievers and inspire the next generation of athletes.

To ensure a seamless planning process, a five-member committee has been constituted to work on available list and those that would be added in days to come of heroes and heroins that had represented the state and Nigeria at large.


The committee will be chaired by the former chairman of the association, Mr Akintunde Akinsemola, who is a respected sports encyclopedia and administrator whose wealth of experience is expected to provide strategic direction for the assignment.

The current Secretary of the association, Joseph Adesuyan will serve as the scribe of the committee, who is also representing the executives in the committee.

Other members of the committee include; Mr Bolu Olu-Esho of Independent newspaper, Mr Femi Dairo of NTA and the General Manager of Breez FM, Mrs Adeola Adekunle Omosola
