Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has declared that he has neither endorsed nor promised any elective ticket to aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections, warning members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against rumours and political falsehoods capable of causing divisions within the party.
The governor made this known on Sunday while addressing party leaders and members during the Ondo State APC stakeholders’ meeting held at The Dome in Akure. The meeting also focused on strengthening party unity and mobilising members for the ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.
Aiyedatiwa said it became necessary to clarify his position in view of growing insinuations in the political space ahead of party primaries.
“Let me quickly correct this,” he said. “In the political climate, there are many falsehoods, lies, insinuations and assumptions flying around to create cracks and divisions. I want to emphasise that I have not promised anyone a ticket — whether for the State Assembly or the National Assembly — and I have not said I will deny anyone a return ticket.”
He explained that party leaders would collectively participate in the candidate selection process, noting that the APC would explore a consensus arrangement.
The governor urged members to remain disciplined and united, stressing that it was their responsibility to protect the party’s structure and avoid actions that could strengthen factions.

He noted that most National Assembly members from the state attended the meeting, while others sent apologies due to official engagements, adding that the APC remained the most viable party in Ondo State.
Aiyedatiwa also highlighted the importance of the APC e-registration exercise, describing it as critical to the party’s future. He said the meeting was convened ahead of the January 31 deadline to boost mobilisation across wards and local governments.
According to him, Ondo State had recorded 128,770 registered members as of the meeting date, ranking third in the South-West, but he stressed that more participation was needed.
He said challenges linked to National Identification Number (NIN) registration were being addressed in collaboration with relevant agencies, while logistics and decentralisation were being strengthened to ease the process.
Describing the stakeholders’ meeting as part of his quarterly consultations, Aiyedatiwa said the engagement was timely as the state entered the first quarter of 2026, with key political and governance activities ahead.
The governor appreciated party leaders, federal lawmakers, and national officials for their support, and highlighted progress recorded in infrastructure, agriculture, education, health, security, and industrialisation efforts. He disclosed that several investment projects had reached the Memorandum of Understanding stage and would soon commence.
He also referenced the ongoing urban renewal programme in Akure, aimed at transforming the state capital.
In their remarks, party leaders reaffirmed confidence in the governor and pledged stronger mobilisation ahead of future elections.
The APC National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Dr. Isaac Kekemeke, commended the visible urban development in Akure and praised Aiyedatiwa’s efforts at uniting party stakeholders.
The state APC caretaker chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, described the party as dominant and urged members to avoid internal rivalry, saying unity remained the party’s strength.
Other speakers, including federal and state lawmakers, former appointees, and community leaders, commended the governor’s developmental strides while raising issues such as rural road access and network challenges affecting online registration.
Dignitaries at the meeting included the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; representatives of the State House of Assembly leadership; members of the State Executive Council; federal lawmakers; and other party stakeholders.
