..bust Motorcycle Theft Syndicate, recover Stolen TVS Motorcycle


Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have foiled an alleged ritual attempt in Ile-Oluji, arresting a woman and her son while rescuing a 10-year-old boy reportedly marked for the act.


The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh who said the arrest followed actionable intelligence received by the SWAT Tactical Team on December 27, 2025.


According to the statement, the police swung into action after a concerned resident alerted security operatives to a suspected ritual plot in the community.


Those arrested in connection with the alleged plot are a 53-year-old woman, identified as Maria, and her 28-year-old son, Adewale.


The minor was successfully rescued during the operation and immediately taken to a hospital for medical examination and care.


Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly planned to engage the services of an herbalist to use the child for money ritual purposes.


The command stated that the suspects, who are currently in custody, allegedly confessed to the crime and would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.


Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their prompt and professional response, noting that intelligence-led policing remains critical to effective crime prevention.


He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.


CP Lawal also warned mothers and parents against involvement in criminal activities, urging them to lead by example and positively influence their children.

He further cautioned against the growing obsession with quick wealth among youths, advising parents to promote diligence, hard work, and integrity.


The police command appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, stressing that community cooperation is essential for public safety.

In another development, operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested four additional suspects linked to a motorcycle theft syndicate and recovered a TVS motorcycle, further strengthening efforts to curb crime in the state.

The arrests followed an earlier breakthrough announced on December 22, 2025, when police intercepted members of the syndicate and recovered two stolen motorcycles.

Building on that success, intelligence-led operations by the command led to the tracking and arrest of the fleeing suspects in neighbouring Edo State.


The suspects, identified as Onyeka, Ekene, Sunday and Abubakar, were apprehended during the coordinated operation. Police said that upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the roles they played in the motorcycle theft ring.


The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their swift, professional and decisive response, describing the arrests as a reflection of the command’s enhanced crime-fighting capacity and effective policing strategies.
CP Lawal reassured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, warning criminals that they would be tracked and brought to justice wherever they operate.

He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious activities, stressing that collective effort is essential to achieving a safer society.
