The growing desperation for power and wealth among Nigeria’s political class has robbed many of them of peace of mind and body, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Ondo State, Mr. Moyosola Niran-Oladunni, has observed.
According to the business mogul and former gubernatorial aspirant, the unrelenting quest for political dominance and access to public funds has left many politicians physically and mentally drained, resulting in frequent health challenges and increased medical tourism abroad.

“Power without peace is sickness; it weakens the body and mind.
“That is the bane of Nigeria’s political elites. They sacrifice their peace while scavenging for power and money.” Niran-Oladunni said.
The Group Managing Chief Executive of CUBEGROUP further urged Nigerian politicians to stop depending on public funds for personal survival. Instead, he advised them to prioritise channelling the resources toward projects that would improve the welfare of the people.
He enjoined the political elites to desist from relying solely on public funds for survival, noting that the way many political players are power-drunk reflects how unproductive they are outside politics.
Niran-Oladunni also lamented the trend of political leaders traveling abroad for vacations, medical treatment, and their children’s education without drawing inspiration from the systems and development models of those countries to improve Nigeria.
He described this selfish attitude as unhealthy for democratic system, and a major factor hindering the nation’s rapid development.
