The management and staff of the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), Ondo State, have congratulated Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on the successful handover of the Akure Complex of the hospital to the Federal Government for use as the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) Teaching Hospital.

In a statement signed by the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Michael Olumide Gbala, the development was described as a “significant milestone” that aligns with the OUR EASE Agenda of the state government, which emphasizes efficient healthcare delivery and socio-economic welfare.

Dr. Gbala noted that the move would further strengthen the state’s healthcare system and enhance opportunities for training, research, and service delivery.

He also expressed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for his unwavering support to UNIMEDTH, describing the Governor’s action as “a bold and visionary step toward improving healthcare services for residents of the state.”

The CMD further extended warm felicitations to the management of the new Federal University of Technology Akure Teaching Hospital, led by Professor Olusegun Ojo, wishing them success in their mandate.

“Both institutions will continue to collaborate to promote shared values and enhance the capacity of healthcare delivery, training, and research in our dear state,” Dr. Gbala assured.
