..as Mrs Aiyedatiwa Lauds Effort

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through the Renewed Hope Initiative in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has officially commissioned and handed over a Digital Learning Centre for Women in Ondo State.

The event, held at the Ondo State Public Service Training Institute (PSTI), Ilara-Mokin, aims to enable women in the state to function effectively in today’s digitally driven world.

Speaking virtually, Senator Tinubu explained that the commissioning represents another opportunity to expand digital literacy among women — one of the key pillars of the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, designed to accelerate economic activity and foster national development.

The First Lady revealed that fifteen Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centres have already been equipped and commissioned across the country, with plans for more.
“I am delighted to commission ten digital centres across ten states, including Ondo State,” she said.
“The centres earlier commissioned were named after notable women who have contributed positively to women’s development. We hope that these training centres will help women fit into today’s digital world and contribute meaningfully to boosting economic activity and national growth.”

In her opening remarks, the Wife of the Ondo State Governor, Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, expressed appreciation to Senator Tinubu for her tireless efforts in advancing women’s empowerment across the country, particularly in Ondo State.

Mrs Aiyedatiwa described the initiative as a testament to their shared belief that digital transformation goes beyond technology — it is about empowering citizens and laying a strong foundation for a prosperous future for Ondo State and Nigeria.

Her words:
“These digital centres are more than just buildings; they are gateways to opportunities, equipping our youth, entrepreneurs, and citizens with the essential skills to thrive in the 21st-century economy.

“The Renewed Hope Initiative recognizes that a strong economy is built from the grassroots. By providing access to digital tools and training, we are creating a generation of digitally literate individuals ready to innovate, create, and lead in the digital space.

“I thank Senator Tinubu for her unwavering commitment to the people of the state and her foresight in championing this vital initiative. We also appreciate NITDA for their partnership and technical expertise in bringing this project to reality.”

Mrs Aiyedatiwa urged beneficiaries to embrace the opportunity with open minds and determination, saying, “We are confident that the Digital Centre will unlock new potentials, foster economic growth, and help secure a brighter, more digitally empowered future for all.”

Also speaking, the Director-General of Ondo State PSTI, Mr Olumide Asere, commended Senator Tinubu for her focus on youth and women’s empowerment and thanked Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his continuous support in promoting technological advancement in the state.

Asere explained that the PSTI was selected as a beneficiary because of its commitment to technological development, adding that the institute had trained 150 youths in technology this year alone.

He said:
“I want to thank Governor Aiyedatiwa for helping us drive technology in the state, which is the way forward in today’s world. I also thank Senator Oluremi Tinubu for this great initiative, because the greatest investment for our youth is a skill that can impact their future positively.”
