A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Mr. Moyosola Niran-Oladunni, has called on public office holders to live up to the responsibilities of their positions by demonstrating transparency, accountability, and diligence in service delivery.
Niran-Oladunni, who was a one-term governorship aspirant in the state, stressed that leadership should not be about enjoying the perks of office while neglecting the duties that come with it.
According to him, those entrusted with leadership must always remember that the privileges of public office are meant to be justified through visible commitment to the people they serve.
“We can’t love the pleasure of the office and hate the responsibility of the same office,” Niran-Oladunni declared, warning against what he described as a growing culture of negligence among some leaders.
The APC stalwart, who is also the Group Managing Chief Executive of CUBEGROUP, expressed concern that some office holders often focus only on the material benefits that come with political positions while failing to uphold the trust reposed in them by the people.
He maintained that such attitudes undermine governance and erode public confidence in leadership.
Niran-Oladunni, therefore, urged current and aspiring leaders to see public office as a platform for service rather than an avenue for self-enrichment, noting that genuine progress can only be achieved when leaders embrace both the privileges and the burdens of leadership with equal zeal.
