The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a father identified as Mr Monday Elela for allegedly killing his 14year-old son, Tope, with the excuse that he was a disgrace to the family due to his criminal activities, including stealing and other crimes at Ajowa Akoko in Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of the State.

The accused father was paraded alongside 24 other suspects by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, for various crimes, including murder, cultism,  burglary and stealing.

Elela and his wife were alleged to have killed their 14-year-old son named and buried him in a shallow grave under a banana tree behind his house in Ajowa-Akoko.

While the wife escaped from the town, the Police arrested the father who said he did not know that the boy would die when he beat him in the night after he escaped from the custody of the State Security Network codenamed Amotekun corps.

Speaking with reporters, the accused father who said he had seven children from his wife, however, described his deseaced son Tope as the black sheep of the family by engaging in housebreaking, stealing, and other criminal activities.

The Commissioner of Police who also paraded those who took part in cult clashes that left five people dead in Owo in Owo local government area of the state, said those paraded were directly involved in the mayhem in the town.

According to him, “On the 30th of December, the police received an anonymous call that one Elela Monday living in Ajowa Akoko killed his 14 year old Son named Tope Elela and buried him in a shallow grave under a banana tree behind his house.

“Suspect was arrested and during interrogation, he said the Boy was always involved in criminal activities and was embarrassing him, so in order to put a stop to the disgrace, he and his wife decided to kill the boy”.
