The Department of State Services, DSS,  arrested Omoyele Sowore, the 2019 and 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, ACC following his return to Nigeria.

Sowore left the Washington Dulles International Airport at 6.14 EDT and arrived in Lagos at around 9.43 WAT.

The development comes after it was learnt in early September that the DSS had instructed airport security and immigration authorities to intercept and detain Sowore whenever he returns to the country.

The directive to arrest Sowore was issued by the newly appointed DSS Director-General, Adeola Ajayi, due to his prominent role in the recent 10-day #EndBadGovernance protests.

He was, however, released shortly after he was picked up as announced by a constitutional lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, who informed DAILY POST that Sowore had been released with his passport returned.

On Saturday, the activist had raised an alarm over a plot by security agencies to pick him up and frame him.

Sowore had said, “Yeah! All around in my home town, they’re tryin’ to track me down, yeah! They say they want to bring me in guilty.

“However Babylon must fall! #FearlessInOctober.”
