. Officials Pay Glowing Tributes To Late Chief Matron

The 7th edition of Bemore Summer Boot Camp For Girls Naija kicked off on Sunday, August 25 with the 100 participants arriving at the camp.

Tagged BEMOREOYO2024, the boot camp is taking place at Lead City International School, Jericho Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Matrons and facilitators held a late night meeting on Saturday, August 24 with the initiator of Bemore Empowered Girls Foundation, organisers of the programme, Chief Dr Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu to dot the i’s and cross the t’s.

This was after the last lap of inspection of facilities at the venue to ensure everything is in top shape.

The participants are drawn from secondary schools in Oyo and Ondo states.



Among the early arrivals were Okonofua Deborah Anuoluwapo, Okanlawon Anjolaoluwa Dorcas and Animashaun Shalom Erikar.

Deborah is in Senior Secondary , SS2 at God’s Power College Ibadan while Dorcas is in SS1 at UCH Staff Secondary School, Ibadan. Erikar is in SS3 at Richgates High School, Ibadan.

The trio are excited arriving camp safely. They also look forward to gaining knowledge during the training that will help them navigate their way successfully through life in the earth.

Deborah says she already has little knowledge in computer operation, pointing out that now is the time to learn indepth about computer operation to the extent of being able to develop apps to solve human problems. So, ICT(Information Communication Technology) is her major area of interest.



Dorcas says she is poised to learn everything on offer at the two-week intensive training and grasp more in some of them while Erikar is interested in cosmetology. “Everything about beautifying the body excites me and I will go for it, Erikar says.

Meanwhile, officials and facilitators of the programme have paid glowing tributes to the pioneer Chief Matron, Chief Mrs Lizzy Akpan, who passed on late last year.

Her successor, Princess Mary Ojomo; the Welfare Coordinator, BEMOREOYO2024, Princess Dora Rose Kayode Aroloye and the 2023 Valedictorian, Aina Faith, 2018 participant, Grace Anderson and Coordinator of the programme, Amaka Uwazuruike eulogized the late Mrs Akpan as a role model and disciplinarian who will be sorely missed by the Bemore family.

According to Princess Dora. Aroloye, the late Mrs Akpan was a true believer in the ideals of the boot camp, making sure while alive that the training held each year seamlessly and successfully.



She recalled how Mrs Akpan defied her health challenges to ensure that the 2023 edition held successfully in spite of the unavoidable absence of the initiator of the programme and former First Lady of Ondo State, Chief Dr Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu.

She assured that those she left behind will bear the torch and ensure the flame she helped in lightening won’t go off.
