Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has declared that rather than take the place of man, Artificial Intelligence would instead help humans to  become more effective and achieve greater results in less time.

The Minister stated this yesterday in Lagos during the launch of NiGPT, a revolutionary project aimed at harnessing artificial intelligence to revolutionize various sectors and improve performance.

Delivering his remarks, Olawande said he was excited that Nigerian innovators are thinking of locally-compliant solutions that can drive productivity in sectors with potentials for job creation.

“With the solutions that the NiGPT will deliver, I am sure we will finally have real local solutions to address specific problems across sectors. I am confident that the project we are launching here today will improve our economic productivity and help our youth to do well in sectors that they usually run away from, particularly agriculture,” the Minister said.

While charging the founders of NiGPT to prioritize the training of  youth in the emerging AI sector in Nigeria, Olawande emphasized that the sector can only deliver optimally when the youth are sufficiently equipped with the technical capacity to drive it.

The Minister, thereafter, pledged the readiness of the Ministry of Youth Development to partner with innovators to ensure that as many youth as possible acquire the skill to deploy AI for work efficiency and enhanced productivity, noting that innovation and service improvement, which artificial intelligence promotes, are the hallmark of the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
